Tell others about Jesus like the Monks of Lindisfarne did:

Though not all Christians are called to the ministry of an Evangelist, we are all called by God to share our faith (witness) with those who are not Christians.  Some Bible verses that you will find helpful for doing this, and that you may want to commit to memory are found on other pages on our  web site (see: Memory Verses; 2nd Set: Salvation!, Plan of Salvation, and Statement of Faith). ________________

Lindisfarne and the Lindisfarne Gospels---An Amazing Place and Its Magnificent Artists

A Close Up Look at the Masterpiece and the Amazing Story Behind It

Actor Robert Duncan takes us on that incredible journey from the origins of the manuscript, through the adventure of its travels to avoid the Vikings, to its current pride of place at the British Library.

Created over 1,300 years ago in "honor of God and St. Cuthbert," this illuminated manuscript is one of Britain's greatest artistic treasures.

The program explores the artistic creation and spiritual nature of the Lindisfarne Gospels, asking why and how the book was produced and has survived to this day.

The beauty of the Gospel manuscript is interwoven throughout the program with stunning imagery drawn from a number of the key places associated with the book's story.  (-from the Video's Back Cover). _____________________________

Our Comments:

"The Lindisfarne Gospels" (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are the beautifully Illuminated Manuscripts created by the Monks of Lindisfarne (Holy Island).  When Monk Linda and I were in London, we stayed directly across the street from the British Museum, where the Lindisfarne Gospels are housed.

Out our window we could see the giant two-story tall crouching statue outside the museum.

The King's Cross entrance to the London Underground (Subway) was on the other adjoining corner, allowing us to travel easily around the city.

Later, in Ireland (at Trinity College in Dublin) we got to view The Book of Kells, the Book of Durrow, and other illuminated manuscripts of the period.

They are amazingly beautiful works of art.  Seeing them was definitely one of the highlights of our trip."
